Domaine de l'Horizon is located in Calce, on the Pyrenées border and overlooks Perpignan and the Mediterranean. Founded in 2006 by Thomas Teibert and the Christ family, the domain now counts now 17 hectares of vineyard with vines ranging from ten to one hundred years. Tenhectares are planted in red varietals and sevenin whites. The domain, with its unique terroir, produces wines with great character and personality. The soils vary between limestone and schist. The majority of the vineyard is planted at more than 200 meters altitude which allows the wines to maintain acidity and freshness. Domaine de l'Horizon is certified organic by Ecocert and Biodyvin.
Thomas Teibert has lots of winemaking experience and has worked in regions as different as Alsace, South Africa, Bordeaux and Germany. Hewas introduced to Calce by the famous Gérard Gauby and he quickly fell in love with the region. Many qualitative winegrowers are located near Calce, but the village has only 200 inhabitants. This location is favourable to high level viticulture because of two winds: the Tramontane coming from inland and the ocean wind from the Mediterranean sea. Here the temperature is much more cooler than in Perpignan, and important variations between night and day encourage optimal phenolic maturation.
