Reseca IGT Sicilia Nerello Mascalese 2012

Gulfi’s only Etna wine

Made with 100% Nerello Mascalese, the Reseca is Gulfi’s only wine from the Etna area. The Poggio vineyard covers 2.5 hectares of terraced lava. In this area the climate is cooler and because of its northern exposure, the temperature variations between day and night are pronounced. The vines, more than a century old and with very low yields, give exceptional fruit with all the character of the Mount Etna terroir. The wine should be aged a few years in the cellar to enjoy all its complexity.

About the producer

Gulfi: An exceptional winery with extraordinary terroirs
The Gulfi family’s philosophy is based on conservation and respect for nature. They maintain their forefathers’ high standards to preserve the ecosystem and natural balance in their vineyards. On these ancestral lands nature dictates the pace in both the vineyard and in the winery. The estate is certified organic and practices non-interventionist winemaking. The majority of the vineyards are located in south-eastern Sicily and the best vineyards consist of Gobeletpruned bush vines. An organic approach produces the best wines and is essential to obtain a viticulture that is in synergy with the environment, according to the owner, Vito Catania. Voted Best Italian Winery of 2012, Gulfi makes exceptional wines that must be added to one’s collection.
